Weather in Pattaya

Pattaya lies towards the top of the Gulf of Bangkok and the influence of the sea means that the weather here differs from northern, southern and in-land Thailand. The climate in Pattaya rarely sees any large temperature differences throughout the year, the average temperature being 29C. However, the weather pattern follows a different one from the Western four seasons, and there are only three seasons here, the so-called cool season, the hot season and the rainy season.

Pattaya Beach

Pattaya Beach is situated alongside the city centre. The over-abundance of jet-skis and speedboats has contributed to the pollution of the water along the beach, as has the practice of dumping sewage into the ocean. The section of beach from Central Road (Pattaya Klang) south to the harbor is adjacent to the core of Pattaya's abundant nightlife area. Most sections of the beach are covered by rented deckchairs run by local beverage vendors during daylight hours.

Jomtien Beach

Jomtien Beach is located about 2 kilometers from south Pattaya. This beach has a very special character, say East meets West. The beach is well know for swimming, water sports and activities because it has a long straight coastline and there are less boat anchored in the area. There are many good hotels, bungalos, guest houses and many restaurants. A lot of tourists come to this area and enjoy the scenery and the beach. Chairs are available to sit and  to have food and drink, or to go swimming.

Islands around Pattaya : Ko Sichang

Ko Sichang is a district (amphoe) of the province Chonburi, Thailand. It is located about 3 hours by boat from Pattaya. It consists of the island of Ko Sichang and its adjoing islands. Ko Sichang is located in the Gulf of Thailand, 12 km away from the western shore of Si Racha district.

 Ko Sichang History

Town on Ko Sichang King Rama IV, Rama V and Rama VI came to island for their rest. King Rama V had initiated to construct the first palace for royal home-stay in summer. The palace was named "Phra Chuthathut Palace", after his son who was born on this island. This royal residence was abandoned in 1893 after the French occupied the island during a conflict with Thailand over which country would control neighboring Laos. In 1900, the palace was torn down and reassembled in Bangkok, now named Vimanmek Palace.

 The island was originally a minor district (King Amphoe) under the Mueang district of Samut Prakan Province. Becoming effective on January 1 1943 it was reassigned to the Si Ratcha district of Chonburi[1]. On July 4 1994 the minor district was upgraded to a full district

 Ko Si Chang  is a small island near Si Racha, population 4,500.

While the beaches are not as enjoyable as those on islands further east and south, such as Ko Samet, tourists can explore the remains of a former royal palace which was built as a summer retreat for King Chulalongkorn. The royal residence was abandoned in 1893 when the French occupied the island during a conflict with Thailand over who would control Laos.

Koh Khrok, Pattaya

Koh Khrok is approximately 8 kilometers off of Pattaya Beach, an isle almost totally surrounded by rock formations. Koh Khrok is private island, so tourists have to ask for permission to enter the island. A gap of 100 meters to the east is a stretch of sandy beach where visitors can go and enjoy viewing underwater coral reefs. From South Pattaya you can get to this island by chartered boat.

 

Ko Phai Group of Islands

Mu Ko Phai (or Koh Pai) is a small uninhabited archipelago belonging to the Eastern Seaboard Islands of Thailand. The largest island is Ko Phai, located about 21 Km to the west of Pattaya. The name Ko Phai means "Bamboo Island", in Thai. This island is located at the South East end of the Bay of Bangkok, on the eastern side of the Gulf of Siam. Administratively Ko Phai belongs to the Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chonburi Province.

Ko Phai is almost 4 Km in length and its maximum width is about 1.5 Km. It is a quite craggy wooded island and a great part of its coast is formed by rocky cliffs. The whole island is high, but its highest point is only 150m and there is not a single peak dominating above the others. There is a light house on the summit of the island.

The closest land to the Ko Phai group is Ko Lan, located about 14 Km to the east of Ko Phai's eastern shore. These islands can be reached in about 2 hours by boat from Southern Pattaya harbor. The rental rate depends on the size of the boat and the destination. All these islands are a protected natural area under the supervision of the Royal Thai Navy. Visitors ought to bring their own food and water and they are not allowed to stay overnight on Mu Ko Phai.

Koh Larn-Coral Island

Koh Larn, was once known as a coral island, as popularized by foreign tourists. Bearing such name is by virtue of its abundance and variety of corals. It consists of minor islands such as Koh Khrok (mortar) and Koh Sak (pestle). It is truly a sought-after island for enthusiasts of coral snorkeling, sheer white sandy beaches and cerulean blue sea - an image of Andaman Sea. The Island, so close to Pattaya, sees more than 5,000 tourists daily
Koh Larn is conveniently located 7.5 km away from Pattaya City, occupying 3,500 rai with an irregular pentagon shape. Its length stretching from North to South is approximately 4.65 km. Whereas the maximal width is 2.15 km. 90% of the area is mountainous, nestled in the forest with a bountiful variety of trees. Naklua Beach and Wong Amat Beach

Naklua Bay is located in the north of Pattaya Bay, with Rachvate Cape separating the them. Naklua Beach, to the far north, is the main strip, with the smaller Crescent Moon Beach and then Palm Beach further south. The northern end of Pattaya Bay (Ao Pattaya) is occupied by Wong Amat Beach, which is accessed from Naklua; and beyond the southern end, around the Buddha Hill headland that separates Pattaya Bay from Jomtien, are several more smaller beaches.

Bangsaen Beach

Bangsaen Beach is a beach near Pattaya. It was a very popular beach as an ideal beach for Thai family to enjoy their weekend or holiday. Anyway, Bangsean is not a foreign tourist attraction as same as Pattaya is.

Bangsean located approximately 13 kilometers from the city of Chonburi, it branches off to the right-hand side from Sukhumvit Highway, at kilometers 104, for a distance of 3 kilometers. Stretching along the beachfront is a 2.5 kilometer Road.
